Key Responsibilities:
As a Chief Nautical Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the compliance, safety, and operational standards of foreign-going ships. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting surveys and inspections on behalf of the government.
- Acting as a key consultant on marine safety and regulations.
- Verifying certifications and ensuring the adherence of ships to international safety standards.
- Assessing the competency of mariners through examinations and certifications.
Required Qualifications and Experience | |
---|---|
Certificate of Competency | Must possess a valid Certificate of Competency as Master of Foreign Going Ships. |
Command Experience | – Minimum of 3 years in command of foreign-going ships. – For candidates with a B.Sc. in Maritime Studies (Technology), 2 years of command experience is acceptable. |
Surveying Experience | Must meet one of the following: – At least 1 year of experience as a Nautical Surveyor in the Mercantile Marine Department of any country. – At least 3 years as a Surveyor with a recognized Classification Society (IACS) or as a Surveyor in a sub-contracted company of an IACS-recognized society. – At least 3 years as a Nautical Examiner for Master and Mates in a recognized Marine Academy/College/University in Australia, Singapore, or the UK. |
